Catchy Choruses

For us to stop the spread of Coronavirus the Government has recommended we increase the frequency at which we wash our hands. They have also suggested to make sure this operation lasts at least 20 seconds we sing Happy Birthday – twice through. Although Happy Birthday is an easily recognisable tune, it will soon wear pretty thin. So we have put together a collection of catchy choruses from a variety of pop songs for all ages to enjoy.

Beyoncé – Love On Top

For all of you Beyoncé lovers we have this absolute belter. The chorus is so catchy you won’t be able to get it out of your head for days! If you’re feeling brave see how high you can go…

Catchy Chorus

“Baby it’s you / You’re the one I love / You’re the one I need / You’re the only one I see / Come on baby it’s you / You’re the one that gives your all / You’re the one I can always call / When I need to make everything stop / Finally you put my love on top”

Isreal Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Something a little slower, but just as catchy (yes we are aware it is the opening line, not the actual chorus). Make sure to keep to the slower rhythm and tempo of this one to get those all-important 20 seconds. How long can you hold the last note?

Catchy Chorus

‘’Somewhere over the rainbow / Way up High / And the / Dreams that you dreamed of / Once in a lullaby’’

The Bee Gees - Stayin’ Alive

It has been well documented on twitter that the total length of the chorus in Stayin’ Alive is actually 24 seconds. We thought an extra 4 seconds wouldn’t hurt anyone, so make sure you hold that last note!

Catchy Chorus

“Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother /You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive /Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin'/ I'm a-stayin' alive, stayin' alive /Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' alive, stayin' alive/ Ah, ah, ah, ah, stayin' ali-i-i-i-ive”

Culture Club – Karma Chameleon

There are no rules to say you can’t dance to this one while washing your hands. However, it might make a bit of a mess so don’t go to crazy

Catchy Chorus

"Karma, karma, karma, karma, karma chameleon / You come and go, you come and go / Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dreams / Red, gold and green, red, gold and green"

Gina G – Ooh Aah… Just A Little Bit

Time for a bit of 90’s pop culture now. Grab your shell suits and rollerblades. Millennials time for you to show us how its done.

Catchy Chorus

"Ooh aah, just a little bit/ Ooh aah, little bit more/ Ooh aah, just a little bit/ You know what I'm looking for/ Ooh aah, just a little bit/ Ooh aah, little bit more/ Ooh aah, just a little bit/ I'll give you love you can't ignore"

Bonus section (not a chorus)

Here’s a small bonus option that we can all agree is an absolute blinder!

Queen – Bohemian Rhapsody Operatic Section

What needs to be said? It’s arguably the biggest band of all time and their greatest song. This is again a little bit longer than 20 seconds at 25 but surely it won’t hurt.

Catchy Chorus (sort of)

"I see a little silhouette of a man/ Scaramouch, scaramouch will you do the fandango/ Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very frightening me /Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo, Gallileo,/ Gallileo Figaro magnifico/ But I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me/ He's just a poor boy from a poor family/ Spare him his life from this monstrosity"

These are a few examples we have come up with to hopefully make the task of washing your hands a little more enjoyable.
