Dacia has unveiled a ‘Very Limited Edition’ version of the Sandero Stepway. It’s called the Escape, and highlights the Stepway’s ruggedness and high driving position. The bonnet, B-pillars and roof are covered with letters that spell out ‘Escape’, and we think it looks rather striking – especially with the black pearl paint, dark roof rails and silver trim inserts.
The Sandero Stepway Escape is the work of up-and-coming designer Flora Jammes. Last year, Dacia ran a contest for young designers to create the company’s next special edition model, and the top three were showcased at the opening of the Mondial de l’Auto earlier this month. More than 100,000 people voted in the competition, and 38,000 of those picked Jammes’ Escape concept.
You might not ever spot one of these models, because only 400 are being produced – less than many supercars – and it’s likely that they’ll mostly be sold in France. The Escape will go on sale across the channel in the second half of 2019.
“This Dacia Very Limited Edition contest showcased young talents and proposed unique designs for the Sandero Stepway,” said Sandrine Paralieu, Dacia’s Senior Brand Manager in France. “[It was] an event that was very welcomed by the community, which was, as always, very active and voted massively online to elect their favourite design.”
The Sandero Stepway is Dacia’s best-selling model in the UK. Starting from just £9,595, it’s incredibly affordable and includes a range of stunning features as standard. Buy a Stepway and LED daytime running lights, DAB radio and metal roof bars will all be yours. Not only that, but it’s award-winning – having been awarded the What Car? Best Small Car under £12,000 for the last five years – and comes with up to 1,200 litres of boot space to fill.
