At Hartwell, protecting our customers and colleagues health and well-being is always our number one priority. We understand that during the unfolding situation with COVID-19 (coronavirus) you may have questions or concerns regarding your vehicle. Below you will find the very latest information from us and the answers to any queries you may have. We will endeavour to keep this page up-to-date with the very latest information as we respond to this situation.

FAQ's

As of April 28th, we have re-opened our dealerships service departments only.

The operating hours for these dealerships are 9:00am – 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

We are operating with a very small team at present in each dealership to ensure we can still implement social distancing measures.

In order to protect the health and safety of our customers and employees we are still able to assist you remotely with all sales queries.

From 1 June the following hours will apply:

The Government have announced legislation that will allow temporary exemption so that if your vehicles MOT is due after March 30th you will automatically receive a six month extension. You must, however, still keep your vehicle in road worthy condition.

The Government have released emergency legislation allowing all vehicles a six month exemption from MOTs. You will be aware that when you have to tax your vehicle you require a valid MOT. As such if your vehicle is due both tax and MOT in the same month do not panic. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) will extend your MOT a few days before it is due which will allow you to tax the vehicle.

Don’t worry! Ford have suspended requirements for service to take place at a particular time interval until 31 May 2020.They will further extend this if it becomes obvious that customers will still find it difficult to get their vehicle serviced after 31 May 2020.However, Ford have not extended the mileage tolerance (the mileage that you can exceed the specified service interval mileage by) and it is still 1000 miles. The reason for this is that driving the vehicle long distances could affect the functionality of serviced parts. Please don’t worry though, if you have a good reason why you have had to do high mileage in your vehicle, e.g. you are a key worker, we will tell Ford and expect them to be understanding.

As things return to normal, we want to help keep our customers safe. That’s why Ford has been working with our Dealers on the Ford Care Code that will be in place when they re-open. While our Sales Sites remain closed, the majority of the Service Sites are now open.

The Code sets out how Ford Dealers can help protect you by:

  • Helping you keep a minimum 2-metre social distance
  • Using Personal Protective Equipment to help keep you safe
  • Sanitising your vehicle, dealer vehicles and dealerships
  • Offering online demonstrations and no-touch demonstrations in dealerships
  • Offering online service appointment booking
  • Supporting you with touch-free payment
