The Ford Tourneo Connect – and seven-seat Grand Tourneo Connect – are among the most practical cars on sale. They’re based on the popular Tourneo van, but have comfy and flexible seats instead of an expansive load bay. That said, you’ll still have more boot space available than almost any other car, so these cars are ideal for lifestyle items like canoes, bikes and surfboards, as well as the more mundane tasks of hauling flatpack furniture or suitcases.
Thoughtful cubbies are dotted throughout the Tourneo Connect’s interior, including overhead storage bins and large door pockets. Getting passengers in and out is incredibly easy, thanks to twin sliding doors and a tall roofline. Once inside, they’ll enjoy palatial amounts of leg and headroom, and unbridled views out of the large windows.
The airy feeling is massively enhanced by the luxurious panoramic roof, which is one of the many amazing features on the Tourneo Connect. DAB radio, air conditioning, steering wheel controls and cruise control are all available as standard to make your journey as comfortable, entertaining and stress-free as possible.
You’ll not only be travelling in comfort, but in safety too. Even on the entry-level model you’ll have seatbelt reminders, front fog lights for better visibility, emergency assist, stability control and anti-lock braking, while autonomous emergency braking and rear parking sensors are also included on the Titanium model. The Tourneo Connect has a stellar five-star Euro NCAP rating.
This car has a range of fuel-efficient engines and an eco mode to show you how to avoid filling up so often. If you regularly load the vehicle up or have long journeys, we’d recommend choosing the diesel engine. It’s available with either 94 or 113hp and can manage up to 61mpg. If you’d prefer a petrol engine, you can choose from a 148hp 1.6-litre or a 99hp 1.0-litre three-cylinder unit.
The Tourneo, like Ford’s other MPVs, offers an excellent and rewarding driving experience. The steering is secure and it’ll be very comfortable for all of your passengers, whether you choose the five- or seven-seat option.
